The Gossip/ Sissy Spacek
split 7"
Helicopter, H 51

The Gossip recorded at the Smell with deluxe accutremonts and Sissy Spacek deliver their complete set from No Fun 2007. Mailorder receives exclusive clear vinyl.

Sissy Spacek
California Ax 4xCD
Helicopter, H 50

Up to this point Sissy Spacek have only released 4 proper albums, all of which could probably be squeezed together onto one CD. What we have in this release is 4 new full length albums recorded throughout 2007. Tinsel Dripping Ink (disk 1) is 26 tracks in 45 minutes covering all territory from grindcore, noise, electro-acoustic improv, musique concrete, noisecore, and electronics. It's primarily made up of new work, but also roots through the cutting floor for the best bits that didn't make it onto previous efforts for one reason or another, with a few tracks dating as far back as 1998. Police (disk 2) is 11 tracks in 40 minutes of electro-acoustic improv with girls on drums. Abreq Ad Habra (disk 3) gets it's title from an Arabic phrase pre-dating "Abracadabra" that translates "hurl a lightning bolt even unto death" which we'll choose to misread as "hurl an even lightning bolt until death." This disc contains the most raw recordings Sissy Spacek have ever released, the first being a 40 minute inferno recorded on KXLU and the second from a 20 minute live set in 2002 in St. Louis. 13-Tet Los Angeles (disk 4) is a live document of a 13 piece lineup that performed two sets at The Smell in Los Angeles in December 2007 and is also the first live performance of a score by John Wiese. There are also many contributors to this set aside from original members of John Wiese and Corydon Ronnau: Mitchell Brown, Sarah Cake, Kevin Drumm, Gerritt, Kate Hall (Mika Miko), Joseph Hammer (Solid Eye), Aaron Hemphill (Liars, Skull Sküll), Jesse Jackson (Flaspar), Greg Kelley (Nmperign), Tim Koh (White Magic, Ariel Pink), Danny McClain (Grand Ulena), Giles Miller, Oblivia (Smegma), Andy Ortmann (Panicsville), Sam Ott (The Fucking Angels), Tom Recchion (Airway, LAFMS), Damion Romero (Speculum Fight), Jarrett Silberman (Skull Sküll, Young People), Dean Spunt (No Age), David Scott Stone (Melvins, Get Hustle), and Shannon Walter (16 Bitch Pileup).

John Wiese & C. Spencer Yeh
New York / Atlanta CD
Helicopter, H 49

"JW — CSY — NYC — ATL. Two best sets from 2007 tour by developing audio partnership, direct soundboard recording. Steel string binds knobs, vocal cries machine code, fuzz and foil avalanche, fireworks and drought. Epic movements in entirety, minimal editing meddling. Words no good, just jam. Bye!"

Two new Helicopter releases:

John Wiese & C. Spencer Yeh
Tiny Red Tables b/w Big American Hole 7"
Helicopter, H 48

At one point during the Free Noise tour Evan Parker pulled out a little black notebook and read back to us all the names of weird bands we'd been discussing. Really funny/embarrassing coming from the mouth of E.P. We played at this one club that had all of these tall red tables with tiny circle tops. E.P. said that our new unit should be called "Tiny Red Tables", but later he was talking about some 7" and said, "you know, with the big american hole" ... so we decided that was a better name ... but until either of those units surface, you can listen to this 7" of me and Spencer, which is handheld tape recordings of source material and stage clips that we used during the sets. It's really low-fi, but sounds great, and is an astounding 26 minutes total, no joke. First unofficial Free Noise document. Edition of 150.

John Wiese with Failing Lights
Southern Swamp 7"
Helicopter, H 44

John Wiese with Failing Lights (Connelly) recorded live in Florida during the Wolf Eyes/JW tour, November 2006. Lathe-cut record with hand made stencil cover by Corydon Ronnau, stamped and printed labels, numbered edition of 30.

No Fun has released a new solo album of mine called Tumbler. Label description: "Total Head Crush Destruction from Mr Wiese. If your head was made out of a boulder the sounds here enclosed are still designed to leave behind nothing but blood stain dust. Side A is the eternal acid rain that we all fear slowly melting your skin away and reminding of your insignificant humanity, Side B is a metallic behemoth continously punching you from all directions leaving you with just enough unbroken bones so that you can breath. Another No Fun Classic. Limited to 300."

Helicopter turns 39 and 40 with two new collaborative 7"s, one with GX Jupitter-Larsen and one with Bruce Russell. I'm getting these only a couple days before leaving for tour, so there will be no chance for distribution until I get back, but I will be bringing some on tour with me.
